Art and Design plays an integral role within the Secondary School. Students are taught to use a range of techniques to record their observations in sketchbooks, journals and other media as a basis for exploring their ideas. They use a range of techniques and media, including painting and regularly visit relevant and interesting exhibitions that link to their learning. Pupils are taught to analyse and evaluate their own work, and that of others, in order to strengthen the visual impact and applications of their work. The art department also teaches pupils about the history of art, craft, design and architecture.
We offer a wide range of GCSE subjects at Key Stage Four where students can further develop their learning. We currently offer GCSE Fine Art, GCSE Photography and GCSE Graphics which are always very popular courses. In 2015 the Department celebrated their best GCSE results to date with 100% of students achieving an A-D grade.
Art Week is now in its 6th year and is a cross-curriculum immersive experience where students from Primary and Secondary collaborate with an artist to create a permanent art piece within the site. We are very excited to get going on 2016 Art Week in our new school!
