They do so by:

  • becoming experts themselves through Continual Professional Development
  • providing training to school staff in specific models and practices of pastoral care, particularly those in line with our school’s restorative and trauma-responsive approach
  • being on-hand to guide staff and respond to pupils during school hours
  • liaising with -and referring to- specialist external support, as and when needed

The Pastoral Care team consists of:

  • The Behaviour team. In each phase of the school the Behaviour Leads devise, together with their Behaviour LSAs, individual support plans for those pupils who require personalised approaches over and above the pastoral supports that are in place for all pupils.
  • The Specialist Advisors. This team have time allocated to spend with the pupils on their caseload to provide general ‘check-ins’ and/or wellbeing support when required. The pastoral support they provide may include lesson observations, providing advice and support in lessons, meeting with parents and liaising with other members of the Pastoral Care team to manage each pupil’s case effectively.
  • The Designated Mental Health Lead and Wellbeing Coordinator. See Mental Health and Wellbeing
