Art

Art and Design plays an integral role within the Secondary School. Students are taught to use a range of techniques to record their observations in sketchbooks, journals and other media as a basis for exploring their ideas. Pupils are taught to analyse and evaluate their own work, and that of others, in order to strengthen the visual impact and applications of their work.

The department is very well resourced. Facilities include a darkroom for film development and camera-less photography, a printing press for various types of intaglio and print making processes, a screen printing bed, heat press and a UV exposure unit.

We offer GCSE Photography and GCSE Art, Craft and Design at Key Stage Four where students can further develop their learning. Our examination board is AQA.

Our holistic and multi-disciplinary approach ensures all pupils are able to achieve to the best of their ability. This is reflected in our results which have seen pupils regularly achieve grades 4 – 9 over the past 3 years.

We often take advantage of being in such close proximity to London by going on Photography walks from London Bridge to Shoreditch and visiting exhibitions such as the RA Summer Exhibition.
